Ivan continues to enjoy a successful career, spanning over 50 years. He spent 20 years in professional services, the last 8 of which was as a consulting partner in a 'Big 4" firm where he rose to become the Lead Partner in the Performance Improvement practice. The balance of his experience is in the world of business. The last 22 years of his corporate career was in a division of a Top 40 industrial conglomerate, as part of the team that built the business into the industry market leader. Well past his corporate “sell-by” date, he retired as the CE, having been appointed to that position some 4 years previously.
Far from being content, Ivan is now enjoying this “third career”, as a Business Coach. He enjoys being part of a team and believes that overcoming challenges and creating value leads to a sense of purpose, an earned place in the world and a fulfilled life. His mission is to experience the world as a fulfilling, abundant and joyful place, by helping others live that experience.
To this end, Ivan founded Tug Executive Coaching, focused on enabling business owners to grow their businesses faster, with less effort, to both be more successful and improve the quality of their lives. He believes that these goals, aside from operational excellence, can only be accomplished by aligning values and purpose with the value provided to customers. He understands that his role as a coach is to ensure that his clients get what they really want, an objective to which he is committed.
Ivan is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from Wits Business School. He & Cheryl, who have been married since 1978, have a son, Jared. He is also a practicing martial arts enthusiast.
